Sonja. I love your wire-work and jewelry. I'm using 20 gauge copper and steel wire for my home-made paper beads, but think this must be an amateur choice. What wires do you prefer and how do you work them? Can you share some ideas? My copper wire tarnishes (Got if from Ace hardware). I've used wires from un-used electrical wire in the past (peeled the rubber off) and made some nice arabesque-ish forms. Any comments?

Very pretty! I like the wire wrapping - is there something in the back of the cabochon that holds it in place or just the wire on the sides?

Robin, thank you for both your comments! the stone in back is held by a few crisscrosses of wire. I wanted to make sure it was secure. The bevel curves to the front. Do you wirewrap or make jewelry? Would love to take a look...

Lorena, thanks so much! I do love to work in copper too. Have never used steel. I like the look of what I prefer to call "aged" copper. I don't know if there is a difference but I get my copper wire from www.conniefox.com which is for jewelry and Brandywine Jewelry Supply who stocks square and half round and quite a few different guages. It's probably a little more expensive than hardware store wire but you don't have to do any peeling. I also like sterling (though expensive nowadays) and I just started working with jewelry brass. 20ga and 18ga are my favorite with 24 o 26 for weaving.

Thank you for the resource information, Sonja. I'll keep it on hand. I'm not really a jewelry designer. Don't even use it. But I appreciate it when I see something lovely on others. My efforts are just a sideline that I do with my Granddaughter to see if she can earn a bit of money. She's only 12, but very good at art and craft work.
